SCHOOL BOARD APPROVED PROPOSED BOUNDARY CHANGES - MAY 9
MSBSD School Board approved the proposed change in the boundaries of Machetanz Elementary. The changes include: Areas 1 and 3 identified on the map are reassigned to Cottonwood Creek Action School, and Areas 2 and 4 to Pioneer Peak Elementary. None of the approximately 140 students are reassigned to Finger Lake. There is a renewed focus at Finger Lake, however, and you may learn more about that by downloading the presentation from Finger Lake (below). The resulting changes address the continued growth in the neighborhoods surrounding all these schools. Other provisions of this phased change include: (1) Machetanz students residing north of the Parks Highway will be reassigned over the next three years, (2) Grandfathering allowances allow current 3rd and 4th grade students to finish at Machetanz--next year's 4th and 5th graders, (3) Siblings of those 3rd and 4th grade students at Machetanz would be assigned to Machetanz to avoid splitting
families. The District will provide transportation for the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 school years.
To learn more about the schools, you may download or view the presentations made by Shannon Bingham, Planning Consultant, and by these principals and schools: 1) Tom Lytle, Machetanz, 2) Lisa Vrvilo, Cottonwood Creek, 3) Dave Nufer, Finger Lake, and 4) Dan Molina, Pioneer Peak. The District changes for Machetanz, Cottonwood Creek, and Pioneer Peak give parents an opportunity to learn more about these three schools. If you have questions or want to visit the schools, you may contact each school.

iParentONLINE ABSENCE REPORTING AVAILABLE ON iPARENT
Parents—Online Absence Reporting. Parents now have a method to report online student absences. A written note or telephone call is still acceptable, but online reporting is easy through iParent. Parents know if the absence is excused and for what reason. It is a way for schools to accurately report and track data on student absences
